Working on this animation has been an incredible journey that has pushed my 3D character animation skills to the limit, and it's been a rollercoaster ride of excitement, challenges, and breakthroughs. From the initial concept to the final rendering, every step of the way has been a learning experience, and I've grown so much as an artist in the process.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project has been the opportunity to rekindle my passion for this art form. I used to love creating animations during my university days, but as time went on and life got busy, I drifted away from it. However, this project has reminded me of how much I enjoy the art of animation, and it has reignited my creative spark.
As I worked on this project, I discovered a new interest in sound design. I had always appreciated the role of sound in films and animations, but I never realized how much of an impact it could have until I started experimenting with it myself. I got creative with sounds like a ratchet for the bike gears and even paid homage to my love for Tony Hawk's games using the 'special' sound. The wobble sound effect from Wii Sports also made a fun cameo, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and humor to the animation.
One of the most challenging aspects of the project was compositing the final shot. But thanks to the person that invented cryptomattes, I was able to save hours of tedious rotoscoping work. The finishing touch of this project was compositing this shot, which brought all the elements together seamlessly.
Overall, this project has been an incredible experience, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work on it. It's reminded me of my love for animation and has allowed me to explore new creative avenues, from sound design to compositing. I hope others enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next.
